How We Got Started
Orlando D. Montán, a proud New Yorker born in The Bronx and of Dominican heritage, has charted an impressive trajectory from his early days delivering papers in his local neighborhood to his current role as President & CEO of True North Restoration in Dallas, Texas. Orlando, the only "Americano" in his family, pursued his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics & statistics from Stony Brook University, where he met his wife, Kelly. Alongside his leadership at True North Restoration, he has held notable positions including, President & CEO of KO Delivery & Logistics, a contracted partner with Amazon; Business Development Manager at Verizon, where he played a pivotal role in smart community strategies; and Director of Business Development roles at Climatec and ARAMARK Education. Throughout his illustrious career, Orlando showcased skills in building organizations, fostering relationships, and developing talent.
Community engagement and giving back remain at the core of Orlando's values. His longstanding association with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) began during his college days when he founded the SUNY Stony Brook chapter and later ascended to various leadership roles within the society. Over the years, Orlando has received numerous accolades, including the SHPE Pioneer Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and the prestigious Jaime Oaxaca Award. An embodiment of principled leadership, Orlando's commitment to his corporate and community responsibilities earned him awards like the 2003 Career FOCUS Eagle Award. He currently resides in Flower Mound, Texas, with his wife and two daughters.
Manuel Caballero, a graduate of Dallas College's North Lake Campus, met Orlando D. Montán at the Magdaleno Leadership Institute. Their immediate rapport led to the inception of the Dallas True North Restoration franchise in 2022. Both driven by a desire to make meaningful community contributions, they notably offered restoration services pro bono to those affected and unable to afford them during Hurricane Ian in Ft. Myers.
